Who is Who: getting to know each other in small groups

Break-out Session
Since a lot of participants didn’t know each other, 30 minutes was used to get to know each other. Important in these 30 minutes was also the trainer’s career path: How the trainers got their role within the organisation and/or company, if and how they became an active member of a network or organisation in combination with a description of their tasks and also in relation to their daily job.

Afterwards the group worked on a vision for the Young Surveyors in Europe. In this vision we tried to find answers what the hopes are, how the network can help our profession and how a European group of Young Surveyors should look like.

Discussions
Outcome: a vision

Technical Session - Get Inspired

Five Young Surveyors presented their view on our profession to inspire the participants. The presentations were related to already successful in place Young Surveyors Networks or how to start and set up a Network also to the developments in education, the relation of young professionals to the labour market, the previously held V International Training Course in Topography and the use of social media and crowdsourcing within our profession.

18:00 - 19:00 Dynamical Session - Challenges Throughout Europe

Learn about the current challenges throughout Europe. In this Dynamical Session participants had the possibility of presenting their papers related to the theme “Challenges Throughout Europe”. The theme was selected to be widespread so we could have all different kinds of presentations within the variety of our profession. New will be the presentation style. We are curious about new presentation styles and identified this event as one of the best possibilities to try them. The one we are using in this session will be Speed Geeking Presentation. A large room is selected as the speed geeking venue. All the presenters are arranged in a large circle along the edge of the room. The remaining members of the audience stand at the center of the room. Ideally there are about 10-15 audience members for each presenter. One person acts as the facilitator. The facilitator rings a bell to start proceedings. Once proceedings start, the audience splits up into groups and each group goes to one of the presenters.
Presenters have a short duration, usually 5 minutes, to give their presentation and answer questions. At the end of the five minutes, the facilitator rings a bell. At this point, each group moves over to the presenter to their right and the timer starts once more. The session ends when every group has attended all the presentations.

New will the presentation style, in this session will be Pecha Kucha presentation. this method is 20 slides, 20 seconds for each slide. Since we are eager to learn, we want to share knowledge to as many people as possible! Sharing your topic in 20 slides with 20 seconds per slide so in approximately 7 min as a challenge, but a fun one.
